Extended Specials occurs every other Tuesday.
5th Grade Extended Specials Days for February: 20th
Regular Specials Schedule for All Grades:
We have noticed that more and more of our students have been wearing smart watches and bringing cell phones to school, so we want to take a minute to be clear about expectations for those devices.
Students are not permitted to communicate on their personal devices during the school day. (The same rule applies for their iPads.) This includes parents. Please help us in reinforcing this expectation. If you need to get in touch with your son/daughter during the day, please email your child's teacher or call the front office.
We have talked about these expectations with the students. We've let them know that if they are using their smart watch, cell phone, or other personal devices to communicate, they will receive one warning. After that one warning, we will ask for those devices to stay at home.
Our Sky Ranch Parent Informational Meeting was Thursday 1/18 at 5:30 pm.
You may view a recording of the meeting here.
Please upload any pictures you have from Class Parties, school events, etc. to our yearbook! It only takes a few minutes, and it makes our yearbook so much more engaging!

In Reading this week, we will continue with our research projects. The kids will record their podcasts. In Writing, we will continue how to use the RACE strategy to answer text-dependent questions with text evidence.
In Spelling, we are continuing our study of Greek & Latin roots, beginning to practice editing and revising questions, and reviewing 5th grade spelling standards.
In math this week the students wrapped up their expressions and equations unit which covered GEMS which is our acronym for the Order of Operations and using variables within expressions. Next week we are taking a week to review types of graphs such as stem and leaf plots, scatterplots, and line plots. The following week we will begin our unit over 2D shapes.
In science this week the students learned about the Water cycle and next week we are moving onto characteristics of the sun, moon and Earth.
iPads
TCE 5th graders should come to school each day with their iPad and charger. Please ensure your child charges his/her iPad each evening. Your child should also check periodically to ensure his/her iPad's software is up to date (settings --> general --> software update).
Water Bottles
Please help ensure that your child brings a water bottle to school each day. While learners are able to purchase a water bottle from the cafeteria, that is not an every day solution. We have multiple water bottle filling stations on campus, so learners can easily refill their bottles.
Snack
We will have a short snack time each day while we continue to work. 5th graders do not each lunch until 1:00 PM each day, so it's important that they have a healthy and nutritious snack each day to fuel their bodies. We also ask that the snack they bring is completely free of peanuts/tree nuts. This will help provide a safe environment for all learners. Thank you for your help!
Car Tags
Please do your best to keep your car tag visible when/if you come through the carline to pick up your 5th grader. It helps us get the learners into their cars quickly and efficiently. This is especially helpful when it's raining, extremely hot, or extremely cold.
