Reminder: STAAR Testing Dates

Learners will be taking the Reading STAAR assessment on Wednesday, April 19th. We have a folder in our Reading Unit 5 folder in the Language & Literacy course on Schoology called "What can I review for the STAAR test?" that your child can review at home. Resources in this folder include vocabulary practice, reviews of standards we have already taught, and rubrics for extended and short constructed responses. Learners can use the resources in this folder to help prepare for the upcoming STAAR test.

Opt-in Notice for Health Education for K-5 Student

Passed during the 87th (2nd) Legislative Session, Senate Bill 9, requires schools beginning in the 2022-2023 school year to educate students on the prevention of child abuse, family violence, dating violence and human trafficking.  House Bill 1525 does the same for human sexuality.

Before a student may be provided with instruction related to child abuse, family violence, dating violence and human trafficking, Senate Bill 9 requires that Coppell ISD obtain written consent from the student's parent/guardian. House Bill 1525 requires the same concerning human sexuality.

At the elementary level, Coppell’s Student Health Advisory Council (SHAC) approved the Quaver Health curriculum.  It is a digitally based teacher-led resource and meets 100% of the Texas Essential Knowledge Skills (TEKS) for Health.  QuaverEd is providing the following links and lessons in accordance with Texas Education Code 28.004 and pertaining to Senate Bill 9, House Bill 1525.
