No School Visitors During the following dates; A note from our counselor Ms. Matlock:
We will be administering the State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness (STAAR) to learners on Tuesday, April 9th and Wednesday, April 10th.  Fifth grade will take Math on Tuesday and Reading on Wednesday.  Fourth grade will take writing on Tuesday. During these days, all other grade levels will continue with a regular school day.
It is important that we have an environment that is free of interruptions to ensure that our students have the opportunity to do their best on these important days.  In order to ensure a secure and quiet testing environment, no visitors will be allowed on campus for all grade levels. Due to this, we will not allow lunch visitors these days. You may contact the office on these days if you are in need of assistance and they will be happy to help you.
Thank you for your cooperation in helping our campus and our students to be successful on our testing days!

Curriculum Updates:

Math

This week in math, we will continue our measurement unit. During this unit, the learners will be expected to use formulas to find volume, perimeter, and area. They will also be required to convert different measurements using a reference sheet. We will also be reviewing for the STAAR test on April 9th. Math Homework: Learners should have brought home a Test SMASH packet to work on for the next week. This packet does not need to be turned into you child's teacher. The kids should use this packet to practice for the Math STAAR Test.

Click this link for Math STAAR practice questions.

Science
This week in science, we will be continuing our unit over organisms and environments. We will be exploring the flow of energy in food webs and food chains within ecosystems. The learners will be introduced to an ecosystem research project at the end of the week that we will be working on for a few days.

Social Studies
This week in social studies, we will continue to learn about reconstruction post-Civil War, Abraham Lincoln's impact during this time, and the 13th, 14th and 15th amendments.

Reading & Language Arts
This week, we will continue reviewing for the STAAR test on April 10th. The learners will participate in several review activities, including games, review passages, and vocabulary practice. In writing, we will continue the March Journal with the learners. Each day, they have had the chance to respond to a journal prompt. Ask them about what they've been writing!
