Requests & Service Learning
  • Sewing Club - Our TCE Sewing Club (which meets during Texan Town) is looking for donations. Please see the picture below for specifics.

  • Kinder Shoe Drive - Kindergarten is having its annual shoe drive, and they would love if you would send in any gently used shoes to donate to various charities. They are looking for tennis shoes, sandals, or boots.
Sky Ranch Updates

  • Please see our Sky Ranch flyer for updates and details about our trip. Within this flyer, we have included a link to our payment letter and a place for you to ask questions about the trip (should you feel the need).

Classroom Communities
  • We have emphasized that at TCE, we are one big family. In keeping with that theme, we will be showcasing family pictures in our classrooms again this year. If you have not already done so, please send a picture of your family to your child's teacher. You may email the picture or send in a printed picture. Thank you for your help with this!
Curriculum Tidbits
Math
This week in math the learners will be working on multiplying and dividing decimals. They will be learning how to use the strategies they already know for multiplication and division, but with decimal numbers.

Science
This week in science we will be finishing our unit on properties of matter. The learners will be participating in different labs to learn about concentration and solubility. The learners will have a test on the different properties of matter at the end of the week.

Reading
In reading, we will begin our study of our second junior great book: Special Powers of Blossom Culp. The learners have already learned some fantastic vocabulary from this story.

In addition, we are participating in Global Read Aloud. This is an initiative that encourages classrooms from all over the world to read the same text and connect beyond the walls of our classroom. 5th grade is read Pax! Ask your learner about the story so far.

Writing & Spelling
We are finishing our Personal Narrative unit with a STEM-related prompt. The learners have been asked to write about a time when they designed something new.

Social Studies
We have wrapped up our study of the Branches of Government, and we're moving on to our study of the Bill of Rights!
