Coppell Elementary Mile Race

All learners in 4th and 5th grade have been invite to participate in the 1st Annual Coppell Mile (grades 4-6) to be held on Saturday, May 18, 2019 at Coppell High School.

The CHS Cross Country and Track Program will be hosting a mile race. The race will start at the track at Coppell High School. The kids will run a one mile loop from the track around the parking lot. This will give them a chance to run on the track and compete with other elementary and middle schools in the district. The meet will be run by CHS athletes. Parents of participants must be in attendance.

We will have a fifth grade team of four males and four females. Races will be scored like a cross country meet with low scores winning. The fifth grade team from our school will be determined from the pool of students returning their "intent letter." However, if your child would like to participate in the "open competition," they are welcome to attend and represent our school! Fourth graders will only compete in the "open competition" as there will be no Team Competition for them. There is no cost for this race. If you have any questions or concerns, please email Coach Erickson at merickson@coppellisd.com. Thank you for your support and I hope to see you at the Coppell Mile.

Curriculum Updates

As we get closer to the end of the year, we know that most of you will be looking for ways that your kids can continue learning over the summer. Please use this link to see different activities that your children can do at home over the summer!

Math
This week in math, the learners will be working on an end of the year choice board. The activities include, creating a book, creating a board game, researching different jobs, and much more! The learners have access to this choice board on their Math Teacher's website!

Science
This week in science, the learners will be studying for the Science STAAR on May 15th. You should have received an email with different study materials for the Science STAAR. Please reach out to your learner's homeroom teacher if you have any questions or concerns.

ELAR
In writing, we are wrapping up our end of the year writing assignments. The learners are writing about all of the lessons they've learned in elementary school.

We will also be holding our first annual 5th Grade Trivia Competition in language arts class. Learners will have a few days to study and prepare with their teammates before competing for the title of Trivia Champion (per class). We hope the kids will share some of the trivia they learn with their families!
