Friday, May 20

Thank you for taking the time to read our blog!

Please see the information below which is from our Field Day Coordinators.

We are so excited about our upcoming Field Day on Monday, May 23rd! We know it has been a while since our last Field Day so I wanted to address some FAQs!

What is Field Day?!  It is a day spent for our learners to travel to different stations throughout the day that include bounce houses, a water slide, sponge relay races, frozen treats and MORE! One of the stations is walking to the Coppell City CORE (Coppell City’s Pool) to go swimming! The CORE will have staff on hand and also has life jackets available for swimmers. If your learner is not a strong swimmer and requires a life jacket, please reach out to your homeroom teacher and we will make sure to have that available.

What will your kiddo need to wear on Field Day, May 23rd? Please have them wear a swimsuit (girls under their clothes and boys wear swimsuit bottoms) and their grade level t-shirt and flip flops/crocs or shoes that can get wet! We will have lots of WATER activities!

What do kids need to bring to field day? Please bring a water bottle as it will probably be warm! Students will also need a towel with their initials on it! Our amazing Room Parents that will be walking our classes from station to station will keep track of the towels and lunches.

What about lunch? Please pack a sack lunch for your student! We will be eating picnic style outside the school.

Anything else we need? Learners will be outside most of the day so please apply sunscreen on your child before school and send additional if needed! We also ask that you send a dry change of clothes they can change into when they return to school. If you can pack this in a small or cinch backpack, that would be great!

Also, we have volunteer opportunities!! I wanted to personally reach out to all our parents and let you know we will need your help if you’re available! We are looking for volunteers to help run games and activities for the different groups throughout the day.

Please use the Sign-Up Genius to sign up for a time slot. As we get closer we will be reaching out with your specific station and instructions!

As a reminder, you MUST have a background check completed to volunteer for a station or walk with your class! You can complete it through the district website ASAP. If you have issues PLEASE feel free to reach out to the Field Day Coordinators directly!

Thanks from your TCE Field Day Coordinators!

We are excited to host a 5th Grade Graduation Ceremony this year! Please the invitation below.

Graduation Day Dress
Students will be invited to dress up for the ceremony. We'd suggest dress pants and a collared shirt and/or dresses or skirts withe nicer shoes.

We will have a celebratory picnic outside on this day and the students will change clothes after lunch and prior to the ceremony.

Graduation Volunteers
Our wonderful Room Moms have planned a fun & exciting ceremony, and they are looking for volunteers to help out! They still need help from both 5th and 4th grade parents to pull this off. Some of the assignments occur during the actual ceremony so we really rely on our 4th grade parents to step in (and you’ll be better prepared to set things up for your own kiddos next year). Parents who help set up get to reserve their seats!

Please visit this Sign Up link to sign up to help out.

***NEW INFO*** Last Day Festivities Hosted by Room Moms/PTO
We are excited to reinstate the 5th grade tradition of early morning donuts, group photo, and walking into the school together for our students last day of elementary school.

Please have your child arrive 7:10am on May 27th to the cafeteria side entrance. We will gather outside there.

5th Grade Walk on the Last Day of School
Parents are invited to come and stand in the front area (near the cafeteria & gym) as our 5th Graders exit the building for the last time on the last day of school. If you’d like to come and cheer, we suggest lining up around 12:10, as we plan to start our celebratory walk at 12:15. We’d like for parents to stand on either side of the walkway so that our students can walk through the hallways. Students will still need to be officially dismissed by homeroom teachers, so it will be important for them to walk all the way through the breezeway to say goodbye to teachers outside before leaving with parents.

Parent Newsletter
Ms. Martin, our principal, sends out a weekly parent newsletter. Please make sure you read this every week.

End of the year report cards will not be printed and sent home this year. Instead, parents will need to access report cards online on Friday, May 27th. Please login to the Home Access Center to access your son/daughter's report card.

Our 5th graders did a wonderful job in the 5th Grade Talent Show, and we loved being in person with an audience again!

Some of the 5th Graders participated in Coach Hayes' basketball club, and they had their showcase game this past Thursday. We are so proud of these kids for how well they played!

A big welcome to Landon William Schaaf!

Born April 30, 2022
